I’m Chucky and this is my wife Karen. She has been stricken with Huntington’s Chorea disease and this story sheds light on it, in an effort to find a cure. The story follows 2 ballplayers, one being the Center fielder for the Washington Senators Kendall Robey. Never a shining success, Kendall’s life changes when the Washington ‘Nats’ manager assigns Flash Marzano to be his roommate. The two become best friends and are inseperable. Together they embark on an 18 year journey where they discover the meaning of winning, losing, love, life and death and they will never be the same.
I've been a Mariner season ticket holder from 1979 and on two occasions worked for them. I am a baseball scholar going back to the 1870s. I love the game and love the stories. I fed off of this knowledge to compile a believable story with humor and actuality combined into heartwarming tale of hope, friendship, love, life and death.
Kendall Robey, a baseball player in 1966 becomes roommates with Flash Quinelli when Flash is traded to Kendall's team, the Washington Senators. Kendall and Flash become best friends and Flash tries a few times to get Kendall time with his wife, Rosie, even though she lives in Florida. Flash is a bit of a romantic and wants to see his roommate happy.
Baseball is a rough and tumble game that in 1966 was still filled with beanball incidents and dugout clearing brawls spilling onto the field. Flash is injured in such a fight and is hospitalized. He meets and falls head over heels for his young doctor, Rosanna Littlefawn.
Rosie and Kendall, Rosanna and Flash become very close and when Rosie is diagnosed with Huntington's a pact is made. The four will never give up on any of the others.
